Joining Forces on the Future: Benjamin Fok, Andy Tung and Wang Xin Explore Cross-Border E-Commerce Supply Chain Finance Cooperation

On the afternoon of August 14, a closed-door conversation with one simple question at its center — how to get capital to move as fast as trade itself — took place at the office of the Shenzhen Cross-Border E-Commerce Association (“SZCBEA”). Mr. Benjamin Fok, Director of the Fok Ying Tung Foundation, Mr. Andy Tung, Founder and strategic investor of eCOM DataFin, and Ms. Wang Xin, President of SZCBEA, led a gathering of industry leaders to discuss deeper cooperation on cross-border e-commerce supply chain finance, charting a path for Chinese trade to go further, faster, overseas.

SZCBEA: Breaking Through Overseas Barriers Starts With Shared Standards

President Wang Xin opened by laying out SZCBEA’s mission to her guests: to lead and empower the industry, elevate the international standing of China’s cross-border sector, and drive the industry’s collective push overseas. Responding to the practical challenges Mr. Tung raised, she pointed to overseas market barriers as the sharpest pain point facing cross-border e-commerce today. She called on all parties to take the initiative, build shared industry standards, and jointly shape the rules of the game. She invited everyone at the table to pool their thinking and deepen cooperation on cross-border e-commerce supply chain finance, to help get Chinese manufacturing genuinely out into the world.

From OOCL to eCOM DataFin: Mr Andy Tung’s Conviction in Logistics Data

Mr. Andy Tung’s own track record makes the case for him. He served for many years as CEO of Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) and stayed on as Co-CEO after COSCO Shipping completed its acquisition of the company in 2018, giving him a front-row seat to global shipping and logistics at scale. After stepping down, he launched an investment fund and became a strategic investor in eCOM DataFin, channeling years of logistics insight into a financing model built on big logistics data. Given how tightly cross-border e-commerce and cross-border logistics are intertwined, Mr. Tung’s confidence in the growth potential of cross-border e-commerce supply chain finance runs deep, and results already back it: in March 2026, eCOM DataFin signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Shengshi Jubao Financial Services Platform, incubated by SZCBEA, and the partnership is now live.

Horace Mak: Data Is an Asset, and the Starting Point for Trust

eCOM DataFin CEO Mr. Horace Mak gave attendees a clear picture of where the company stands today. eCOM DataFin is a data-driven cross-border trade fintech platform; its Hong Kong-licensed lending arm, eCOM DataFin, holds a Hong Kong money lender’s license, and the group is headquartered in Singapore with branches and offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Australia and the Philippines, all focused on digital trade and logistics financing for cargo owners, freight forwarders and logistics companies. Mak noted that demand for cross-border trade supply chain financing is running high, and that the industry’s digital transformation is giving data holders a real opportunity to get data ownership and governance right, building the foundation of trust the whole model depends on. The platform draws on multi-source data aggregation tools to combine historical and real-time data, with blockchain technology safeguarding data security.

Shengshi Jubao: Managing Risk by Controlling the Cargo so that Capital Can Move With Confidence

Zhao Xiaojuan, General Manager of the Shengshi Jubao Cross-Border Financial Services Platform, added the on-the-ground perspective. Its shareholders include SZCBEA (a 5A-rated social organization), Jiangxi Financial Development Group (a state-owned enterprise), and Guangdong Xinyuanshu Technology. The platform has firmly established itself in cross-border e-commerce, continually developing new supply chain finance products to address the industry’s toughest financing challenges. It has already launched Unsecured Credit Loans and Cargo-Control Loans in partnership with eCOM DataFin, assessing businesses through multi-dimensional digital data from cross-border logistics providers and e-commerce platforms, managing risk through end-to-end control of cross-border cargo, and backing it all with cargo-disposal channels to cushion downside risk. Zhao said she hopes all parties will deepen their collaboration, channel fresh financial resources into the industry, and drive its high-quality development.

Benjamin Fok: Real Partnership With Local Players Is What Makes Going Global Last

Closing the discussion, Mr. Benjamin Fok offered his own perspective on cross-border trade: companies should pursue win-win partnerships with local players in their target markets, drawing fully on local resources and strengths so that value is shared across all sides. He also encouraged attendees to explore new models like countertrade alongside their cross-border e-commerce supply chain finance cooperation, as another lever for pushing China’s cross-border trade toward high-quality development.

All parties reached an initial understanding on cross-border e-commerce supply chain finance cooperation, with dedicated teams to follow up on details and the implementation plan—the next chapter in ensuring capital keeps pace with trade.
